Sarah Lyons is a pure-bred Torontonian. Born and raised in the city Sarah has witnessed the growth of food and wine appreciation in Toronto. Raised in an eclectic environment Sarah enjoyed exposure to cuisine from around the world. Sarah found her love for travel and culture at a young age and had already begun to develop her palate.
After enrolling in the University of Toronto as a philosophy major, Sarah worked as a bartender to pay her tuition. Realizing a strength in creativity with flavours Sarah endeavoured to expand her learning in a more upscale environment. Starting as bartender at The Fifth Restaurant under the guidance of Libell Geddes, Sarah's love for food and wine became a passion.
At the Fifth she had the good fortune of working and learning from the great French Chefs of this city; Didier Leroy, Marc Thuet and J.P. Challet. Much to the surprise of critics around the city Sarah was promoted to Chef de Service at the young age of 25. With the responsibility of The Fifth's reputation at stake Sarah insisted on only the highest standards of service. In 2002 Sarah and Marc Thuet enjoyed the prestigious honour of The Fifth being named best restaurant in Toronto by James Chatto of Toronto Life Magazine.
After 5 years at The Fifth Sarah decided a change was due and she moved to Paris for 3 months. While living there she had opportunity to experience not only the magic of France, but traveled through Italy and Spain. Upon her return her two old friends from the Fifth, Bertrand Alepee and Jason Inniss were in the process of developing Amuse-Bouche Restaurant. It seemed a perfect match and Sarah keenly joined them to build the wine list and run the front of house. In the year and a half that they have been open, Amuse-Bouche Restaurant has enjoyed much success and Sarah's wine list has been recognized by Wine Access Magazine as Best Small Cellar.
